All classes are held in our Tea Tree Gully training space, providing a professional, hands-on environment that reflects real salon conditions.

Course Overview

This course is designed to give you a strong foundation in nail technology while developing the practical skills required to work in a salon or run your own business.

You will learn how to perform a wide range of nail services while building confidence, technique and professionalism.

Course Structure

The Certificate in Nail Technology is made up of both practical and theory units, allowing you to develop your skills step-by-step.

Practical Training Includes:

  • Manicures and pedicures
  • Acrylic nail enhancements
  • Gel nail systems
  • Electric file (e-file) techniques
  • Nail art and advanced nail art

Training is progressive, starting with foundational skills and building through to more advanced techniques.

Theory Units Include:

  • Hygiene, health and safe work practices
  • Infection control procedures
  • Client consultation and salon services
  • Industry knowledge and business fundamentals
  • Workplace requirements and professional conduct

Theory is supported in class but completed as homework, allowing class time to focus on hands-on learning.

Important Course Requirements

To successfully complete the course, students must:

  • Complete all required practical and theory units
  • Successfully demonstrate competency in each unit
  • Complete hygiene and infection control theory before working on clients
  • Bring models to practical sessions (discussed at orientation)

Students who successfully complete all requirements will receive a Certificate of Completion. If all requirements are not met, a Certificate of Participation will be issued.

Course Schedule

Classes are typically held on:

  • Mondays and/or Tuesdays
  • 9:30am to 4:00pm
  • With a lunch break from 12:30pm to 1:00pm

Occasional Wednesday classes may also be scheduled.

Students are required to attend all sessions. If a class is missed, a medical certificate is required to access a catch-up session.

Student Expectations

Students are expected to:

  • Attend all training sessions
  • Complete theory and practical requirements
  • Practice regularly outside of class
  • Maintain a professional standard of presentation

Students should dress as they would in a salon environment, wearing clean, tidy clothing and closed-toe shoes.

Located within the group of shops next to the vet and coffee shop, with parking available nearby.

Prior Learning (RPL)

If you have previously completed training in nails or beauty, you may be eligible for Recognised Prior Learning (RPL). This will be discussed with your educator before the course begins.
